Rattan Fixtures and Mirror Balls: A Barn on Walnut Hill Wedding
Abby and Connor’s Barn on Walnut Hill wedding last August moved through three distinct settings in a single evening, each one building on the last. The ceremony took place in the woods on the property, guests seated among the trees before the celebration shifted into a tent full of texture and color, and finally into the barn, where the night wound down under a cluster of mirror balls.
A Family Affair handled planning and design, and their sense of layering showed up everywhere, from striped linens on the tables to the lush, garden-style arrangements from Broadturn Farm. The florals leaned into late-summer abundance, loose and textural rather than tightly structured, which set the tone for a reception that felt relaxed even as every detail was considered.
Overhead, rattan pendant fixtures hung low through greenery strung across the tent, casting a warm, woven glow over the dinner tables below. The pairing of natural fiber and greenery kept the space feeling grounded in the season, more like an extension of the woods outside than a separate structure. As the light outside faded, the tent’s glow took over, carrying guests from dinner into the evening’s next chapter.
That next chapter happened in the barn, where the mirror balls came out. Suspended in a cluster above the dance floor, they caught the barn’s string lighting and threw it back across the room in constant motion, giving the space an energy that matched the live music from Mixology Band. Guests who had spent the earlier hours among rattan and garden roses found themselves under a very different kind of light, proof that a single wedding day can hold more than one mood without ever feeling disjointed.
Photography from Emily Leonard Photography captured both halves of the night, the soft, textural glow of the tent and the higher-energy scene in the barn, giving Abby and Connor a full record of a day that moved confidently between them.
